What is Included

Urine Screening

The urine screening tests for the presence of blood, sugar and protein. These are things that may require further testing. A common confusion is that sugar is a firm sign of diabetes, which will require insulin. But that’s not true. The doctor will do a history and decide if further testing is indicated.

Vital Signs

You’ll know your blood pressure and pulse rate at the end of the exam. These are helpful in knowing how well your heart and cardiovascular system is working. We want your blood pressure below 140/90 but if it’s higher than that you can still get a card. When the blood pressure is higher than 140/90 you may still get a card, but it may be shorter than the maximum 2 years.

Hearing and Vision

There are firm requirements for both hearing and vision. Please bring your glasses and hearing aids to pass your exam.

Conditions

  • Insulin Dependent Diabetes
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea
  • History of Heart Attacks

And other conditions may require additional requirements. To make you life easier, you can call us to learn what additional things you may need to pass your DOT Physical Exam.

Disqualifying Conditions

  • Alcoholism and regular marijuana use. Having a Medical Marijuana card disqualifies you.
  • Epilepsy and Recurring Seizures
  • Methadone

Multiple Medications

The FMCSA wants drivers using medical interventions for 3 or more medical problems to see NRCME doctors who are Medical Doctors or Doctors of Osteopathy. Medical interventions include devices like CPAPs for sleep apnea and implantable pain pumps or implantable brain simulators. Please visit the NRCME list by clicking here and find a provider with MD or DO after their name to provide your exam.

ART Corporate Solutions Testimonials

  • Although SCI has made efforts in other areas to reduce workers' compensation costs, our significant reduction in expenses is largely due to ART's program. OSHA VPP auditors called this program a Best Management Practice after auditing Sanmina-SCI.

    Mary Betsch
    EH&S
    Manager Sanmina-SCI

  • In 2004 I was invited to a short seminar put on by ART. I was so impressed with the program that I was eager to find out more about it. Dr. Michael Leahy showed me the many ways that Active Release Techniques could benefit our company. I have certainly not been disappointed in what ART has to offer. ART has saved our company thousands of dollars in Workers Compensation Benefits, Insurance Premiums which helped us to lower our experience modifier rate.

    Bill Tuten
    Health and Safety Manager
    Berwick Electric, Colorado Springs, CO

  • ART has been a WIN-WIN program for LPR and its employees. Employees can utilize ART to free themselves of discomforts that they would usually just live with. Now, with ART, the minor discomforts are prevented from becoming serious. I personally, and other managers, have had successsful experiences with ART and will continue to spread the word of ART.

    Ed Valencia
    Safety Manager - LPR Contruction
    Loveland, CO

  • I feel the ART program is working extremely well and is definitely a benefit to our employees. The ART provider is very responsive to our employees needs and I have heard nothing but positive feedback from our employees.
